A PASSION FOR HIKING & CARIBBEAN CULTURE
Hike Caribbean has been set up by two friends, Aidan McCauley and Rob Davies, who met eight years ago in Antigua and bonded over a common love of hiking and the occasional beer! Rob, whose worked in senior roles in the communications industry for many years, left Antigua to go home to the UK where he started a family, although secretly he still wishes he could take them all back to the Caribbean. Meanwhile, Aidan continues to live in Antigua, where, amongst other ventures, he owns the Sugar Ridge Resort.
Hiking in the Caribbean, Aidan and Rob saw much more of the culture, geography, flora and fauna of each of the unique islands, than holidaymakers unwilling to leave the beach, or cruise ship passengers with just a few hours onshore. They want to give other people the opportunity to experience this for themselves.
A passion for hiking and the diversity of the Caribbean inspired them to set up Hike Caribbean. Hike Caribbean offers a range of tours to six islands which are all short flights from Antigua and each with very different culture and scenery.
Rob looks after the American and European side of the business and he will be your first point of contact to put together a be-spoke itinerary and to talk to you about what the different islands have to offer. Aidan will be there to meet you in Antigua and he, and the team at Sugar Ridge, will ensure you get the most from your hiking holiday in the Caribbean.
In time, Hike Caribbean aim to offer more islands, including Dominica, which is the jewel in the crown of hiking in the Caribbean. For now, Dominica, is not viable for hiking following the impact of Hurricane Maria. To help aid the recovery efforts, though, a portion of profits from Hike Caribbean go to charities which support the repair and restoration of islands following the hurricanes of 2017.
