Eco-friendly Dominica

This trip gives you an opportunity to see the ‘real’ Dominica off grid in an eco-lodge hidden deep in the forest near the junction of three rivers. After six days you will probably want to stay here forever which is pretty much what happened to the owner of 3 Rivers, Jem!

Day 1

Soon after your international flight lands at Antigua’s new international airport terminal you will be met in arrivals by your Hike Caribbean representative and whisked away for your first night at the at 3 Rivers. The fun starts when you arrive as you will need to traverse a river by wading or zip line to access the property. You are now officially off-grid!

Day 2

We start you off with a hiking tour of the local area with the opportunity to see three local waterfalls! First is the 3 Rivers falls is a simple one hour walk from 3 Rivers. The trail is both beautiful and involves a well made track and a some river walking. The water drops close to a massive tree which forms a junction between 3 rivers, completely different from the rivers meeting at 3 Rivers itself. Next is Coco Cascades situated within the Newfoundland Estate, an hour river hike away from 3 Rivers, these two sets of stunning little cascades will take your breath away. Easy access, stunning rainforest surroundings and plenty of water to bathe in. Finally, O’Flocky’s falls is short and beautiful through the lush rainforest. You can either follow the river for about an hour and a half, or follow a trail for 20 minutes, followed by 20 minutes walking up the river. A cool deep pool on the ridge between the two falls, and it is a truly stunning little spot.

Day 3

This day involves a full day cross island hike. You start by Passing through the picturesque village of Grand Fond, then crossing the mountains and into The Morne Trois Pitons National Park World Heritage Site as far as the Freshwater Lake, and then on up to magically mystique Boeri Lake.

Begin at Pond Casse in the middle of the island, then onto the Emerald Pool inside the Morne Trois Pitons National Park world heritage site, traversing endless streams and small cascades. Ending the full day hike in the seaside village of Castle Bruce, cooling off with a nice sea bath before being collected and driven back to the lodge
