Antigua, Saint Lucia, Guadeloupe, Saint Kitts and Nevis
You get to do it all in this trip! Visit all five islands and bag the highest peak on all of them. It will take a lot of stamina, but you will be rewarded with a real insight into the culture and history of the islands and really begin to appreciate their differences and similarities. Plus, you will experience a hugely varied range of mountain scenery from the woodland of Antigua to the dense rainforest of Saint Lucia and you will have a chance to witness hundreds of species of birds, plants and mammals along the way, from monkeys to parrots to iguanas. This itinerary takes a total of twenty nights with nine nights in Antigua (three at the start, the middle and the end), three nights in Saint Lucia and Saint Kitts and two nights each in Guadeloupe and Nevis. This is the minimum though you may well want to add in some extra rest days if you have the time for a longer stay in the Caribbean.
Soon after your international flight lands at Antigua’s new international airport terminal you will be met in arrivals by your Hike Caribbean representative and whisked away for your first night at the luxury Sugar Ridge Resort. Why not take a dip into one of our pools, then eat up in Carmichael’s restaurant watching the sunset across Montserrat and the Caribbean Sea?
Take some time to unwind from your long flight and enjoy all Sugar Ridge has to offer. Exercise is a great cure for jet-lag, so you can work out in our multi-purpose gym or take one of our daily yoga classes. Alternatively, relax with a treatment in our Aveda Spa or take our complimentary shuttle to the beach.
The first hike of your holiday! Your guide takes you out of Sugar Ridge soon after breakfast and through steep bush and forest where you will see signs of old plantation buildings and a variety of trees and plants which your guide will help you identify. Finally, towards the top you join a small tarmac road which leads up to the highest point on the island. You can peak through the trees and catch glimpses of the coastline and the interior of the island.
Time to leave the luxury of Sugar Ridge for your early evening LIAT flight direct to St Lucia. The flight takes just over an hour and you will be afforded great views of the sunsetting over the islands as you take off. You then have a transfer of an hour or so down to the South of Saint Lucia and your night in luxury resort of Fondoux Plantation.
Your first day hike. You leave early and travel for 45 minutes to reach the trail head for Mount Gimie and then it’s a strenuous five or six hours round trip to the summit through lush rainforest. This will only take up the morning of the day and the walking is relatively light compared to previous days which leaves you time in the afternoon to relax in your hotel or to see more of the island.
