Two islands hiking and yoga
Antigua and St Lucia
For those who love hiking and yoga and want to see two very different islands this is the perfect trip. It includes four hikes in Antigua, two in St Lucia as well as five yoga sessions across nine nights and ten days (six nights in Antigua and three in St Lucia).
Soon after your international flight lands at Antigua’s new international airport terminal you will be met in arrivals by your Hike Caribbean representative and whisked away for your first night at the luxury Sugar Ridge Resort. Why not take a dip into one of our pools, then eat up in Carmichael’s restaurant watching the sunset across Montserrat and the Caribbean Sea?
We start you off with a short morning nature hike out of Sugar Ridge as an opportunity to see your surroundings with another evening yoga session in The Shed as the sun goes down.
The first proper hike of your holiday. Your guide takes you out of Sugar Ridge soon after breakfast and through steep bush and forest where you will see signs of old plantation buildings and a variety of trees and plants which your guide will help you identify. Finally, towards the top you join a small tarmac road which leads up to the highest point on the island. You can peak through the trees and catch glimpses of the coastline and the interior of the island.
Time to leave the luxury of Sugar Ridge for your early evening LIAT flight direct to St Lucia. The flight takes just over an hour and you will be afforded great views of the sunsetting over the islands as you take off. You then have a transfer of an hour or so down to the South of Saint Lucia and your night in the luxury resort of Anse-Chastenet.
Your first full day in St Lucia and you will be hiking across the island with an opportunity to see lots of different habitats. For those interested in birds, you will get the chance to glimpse two of St Lucia’s endemic species which can only be seen on the island, the St Lucia Oriele and the St Lucia Warbler.
A shorter hike today up Gross Piton but a very steep one so we hope your legs aren’t too tired from the previous day. It will be well worth it with amazing views of the coast and the island and back to Anse-Chastenet where you can relax on your return and take part in an evening yoga session as the sun sets across the Caribbean.
Your final day in Saint Lucia and you will be leaving mid-afternoon for your flight back to Antigua and start the day with a yoga session down by the beach. After this why not take the opportunity to visit the Sulphur Springs St Lucia’s famous ‘drive-in’ volcano or just relax in the pools and beaches of your resort.
Later in the day your LIAT flight to Antigua will take less than an hour and you will be transferred back to your room in Sugar Ridge.
Today we take you on a morning hike from Wallings Dam in the South-Western rainforest of the islands down through forest, then woodland and bush finally reaching the ocean at Rendezvous Bay close to Falmouth Harbour. After a dip in the sea or some sunbathing on the deserted beach you then hike back up to the Dam where you can have a go on the rainforest ziplines if you’re feeling brave! Either way, we end with a yoga session watching the sunset from The Shed.
Your final full day in Antigua and in the afternoon, we take you on a guided hike of the historic English Harbour area, including a short boat ferry across the bay to Pigeon beach. From here you will hike up to Shirley Heights to see the sunset and maybe enjoy a well-earned rum punch at the bar with its amazing views of the harbour and the coastline.
Time to say goodbye but not before one final yoga session this time as the sunrises over the Caribbean. We transfer you back to the international terminal for your flight home though we suggest you have a quick dip in the pool at Sugar Ridge and soak up the last drops of Caribbean sunshine before you make your way home!
