St Kitts and Nevis swim itineraries

 In Itineraries

We have launched two new ‘hike and swim’ trips for 2019, combining a variety of challenging hikes across several Caribbean islands with the iconic Nevis to St Kitts swim. The fitness-focused group tours both depart in March 2019 and are perfect for those looking for a challenge for the new year. Prices start from £1,299 per person for the shorter week long Two Peak and Swim trip and rise to £3495 per person for the longer Three Peak and Swim trip over ten days.

Both trips will operate as group departures, with participants enjoying the comradery of travelling, hiking and swimming together whilst summiting the peaks of Nevis, Antigua and St Kitts and taking part in a range of active excursions including yoga and the open-water swimming challenge. The tours are perfect for the ever-increasing sector of people interested in ‘fierce fitness’ travel; holidays which incorporate physical challenges whilst exploring different areas of the globe.

What’s more, both tours offer the chance to take part in the iconic Nevis to St Kitts Swim from Oualie Beach on Nevis to Cockleshell Beach on St Kitts (both part of the Leeward Antilles island chain in the Western Caribbean).  This annual 4km open-water swim taking place on 31st March next year requires a good level of fitness, determination and a sense of adventure- though swimmers can choose to use fins, snorkels, wetsuits and flippers to aid them if they wish. The swim crosses The Narrows; the strait separating the neighbouring islands. The swim,  now in its 18th year, finishes with a breakfast party on St Kitts afterwards.

Option One- Triple Peak and Plunge

Departing on 26 March 2019, this 11 day (10 night) group trip offers the chance for guests to  combine the Nevis to St Kitts swim with climbing the peaks of Antigua, Nevis and St Kitts. Start on Antigua with two hikes and an evening yoga session, before heading to Nevis and the Montpellier Plantation Hotel. From here, tackle the Nevis Peak (an ascend of 800 meters through tropical plants- using ropes to pull yourself up) before taking part in the open water swim on day six. Once on St Kitts, check into the luxurious Belle Mont Farm for a rest day, spending time relaxing by the pool or exploring its 400 acres of organic farmland, followed by a hike up Mount Liamuiga for views of the Devil’s Tooth (the tallest point on the crater). The final two days are spent on Antigua at Sugar Ridge Hotel, climbing the islands highest peak ‘Boggy Peak’ (renamed as ‘Mount Obama’ in 2007) and hiking over to the English Harbour before unwinding with yoga in its new ‘Shed’ overlooking the beach.

Option Two – Double Summit and Swim

This shorter 8 day (7 night) group trip departs on 27 March 2019 and combines hikes on Nevis and St Kitts with the open-water swim event. Stay for four days at Oualie Beach Resort in the north of the island on the leeward coast, enjoying a few ‘warm up’ walks before tackling the Nevis peak on day 3 (and enjoying mountain top views towards the capital of Charlestown as well as across to Antigua and Montserrat) before diving into the warm waters to swim The Narrows. Afterwards, spend three nights at Ocean Terrace Inn near the buzzy capital of Basseterre on St Kitts, scaling the 1000m Mount Liamuiga- the highest point on the island- and unwinding with a dip in the pool or snorkelling in the sea.
