Why Hike?

There are so many benefits to hiking this page could be a very long one! We will confine ourselves to a few of a favourite reasons though!

Improve your health – There are myriad health benefits for walking with much less stress on the body or risk of injury than running or contact sports. To name a few, it lowers your risk of heart disease, improves blood pressure and blood sugar levels and will help boost bone density and strengthen your core, which becomes more important as you get older. And this is not to mention that walking burns calories which means less weight to carry around with you!

Clear your mind – Stressed about your job and need some time to centre yourself and engage with nature? Well, you will be pleased to know mobile phone reception is poor or non-existent in a lot of the places we hike so you’ll have no worries about being hassled by the office! Switch off, live in the moment and enjoy nature.

Boost you brain – Research shows that people who spend more time in nature are up to 50% more creative when it comes to problem solving. So, when you do get finally back to the office you will be more effective than when you left!

Help the environment – We all know the negative impact that vehicles and carbon emissions have on the environment and walking is the original zero-emission mode of transport (who needs electric cars?). Not only this, our guides all share a passion and concern for the physical environment and by walking with them you will ensure that they continue to protect the beautiful habitats on the islands.

See a different side to the islands

We think walking is the only way you will truly get to experience the natural beauty of the islands. Who wants to be driven around with a bus load of other tourists who all stand in lone gawping at the same view? The most memorable and unique experiences can only be had on foot, in the unique parts of the islands our hikes give you access to.
